🚘 Right-hand driving.
⚡ Speed limits: (they’re clearly marked)
40 km/h in most town areas
90 km/h on open rural roads.
100 km/h on the main high road that connects the island and leads toward the airport.
📱 No phone use while driving unless you have a hands-free system.
🍷 Don’t drink and drive. The legal limit is 0.5 g/l, but it’s safest to keep it at zero.
👶 Child seats are mandatory for kids under 135 cm.
🚴The entire island is a cyclist-friendly zone. Always keep an eye out for bicycles and maintain safe distance — especially on narrow rural roads.
🛴 Electric scooters are common in towns like Playa Blanca. Be careful when overtaking and give them space, especially in busy areas or near pedestrian crossings.
⚙️ Entering the roundabout
– Always give way to vehicles already inside the roundabout.
– Slow down and check to your left before entering.
– There’s no alternate entry rule, the car inside always has priority.
🚗 Lanes
– Right lane – for the first or second exit.
– Left lane – if you’re taking the third exit or making a full circle.
– Always move to the right lane before exiting, using your indicator.
🪶 Indicators
– Entering: no signal.
– Exiting: always use the right indicator before leaving.
– If you switch from the inner to the outer lane, signal right early.
🚴 Cyclists and pedestrians
– Cyclists often share the roundabout — they have priority if already inside.
– Pedestrian crossings are just after the exits, so always stop before the crosswalk when leaving.
🅿️ Free parking:
Most parking spots are marked with white lines — and that means free parking.
♿ Blue-marked spaces:
These are reserved for disabled drivers with a valid EU or local permit. Please don’t park there unless you clearly display the card.
💶 Paid parking:
You’ll only find paid parking in private or controlled areas, usually marked by a barrier gate or payment system
🚫 No parking:
Yellow lines mean no parking — fines are strict.
Fuel stations are easy to find, especially near larger towns and main roads. All stations accept card payments.

Diesel = Gasoil
